If you are an aspiring TV Production Manager or Production Co-ordinator, this course offers up-to-the-minute skills and insights from practising industry professionals. It is also be extremely useful for TV Producers wishing to update their production knowledge, especially in the areas of budgeting and post-production.
This course is being delivered over one weekend and three subsequent Saturdays.
What You Will Learn
Leading industry professionals will share their experiences of the fundamental areas of TV in relation to reality, documentary, factual, studio shows, outside broadcast events and web content. (Note: if you are interested in scripted productions, you may wish to do our Drama Production Management course instead).
Main Course Lecturer Genevieve Ginty and guest speakers will cover the tasks and responsibilities of PMs including:
The first schedule and budget
Setting up the production office and the shoot
Crewing, casting and working with talent
The Producer PM relationship
Choosing cameras, sound equipment, lighting and editing formats
Studio, Location, music and graphic selection
The Art Department, Wardrobe and Make Up
Legal, insurance and OHS issues
Production accounting and cost reporting
Technical delivery to networks and international distributors
Your new skills will be put into practice through practical exercises.

Level of Experience
Some understanding of production techniques is essential to get full value from this course. There will be an assumed level of knowledge so it's not a suitable course if you have not worked on any film or TV production.
About the Course Lecturer
Genevieve studied visual art and photography before moving into entertainment then film, TVCs and eventually television in 2001.
Since then Genevieve has worked with many of Australias celebrated producers of light entertainment, lifestyle, observational documentaries, factual programs and reality series. As a Production Manager, she managed shows such as Big Brother, QueerEye for the Straight, Strictly Dancing and Friday Night Games among others. Genevieve also produced an award-winning short film Free directed by Jeremy Cumpston. In 2005 Genevieve became the Production Supervisor at Southern Star Endemol, where she was across the development, management and delivery of Endemols slate of programs.
Since 2011 Genevieve has worked as a development & production consultant. This primarily involves assisting producers with program development, budgeting, scheduling, and production methodology as well as business and production management.
Genevieve also regularly lectures at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
