To all emerging Cinematographers, we present our Cinematic Litmus Test.

AFTRS Open believes that anyone who is looking to accept work and make a living as a Cinematographer MUST be familiar with the shooting of six key scenes:

  1. Dining table with dialogue
  2. Firelight/candle light/storm & lightning
  3. Simple green screen with basic VFX
  4. In car dialogue with simulated travel
  5. Love scene
  6. Fight scene

These six scenes are found in almost all film & TV scripts, and Directors Of Photography are expected to effectively - and quickly - rally their teams to make these areas of the script come to life.

Over five intensive days us in the AFTRS professional studios for the tips and tricks you need to know to successfully plan, light and shoot these commonly found scenarios.
