Learn the fundamentals of creating viable and original TV drama and comedy series concepts in this ten-week online course.

This course will guide you through the process of concept creation - from idea inception to concept presentation.

Specific areas to be explored are the creation of a dramatic world, the 'what if' conceptual question, development and creation of a dynamic protagonist, the use of secondary characters, primary and secondary storylines and assembling a series concept document.

The course comprises ten modules with a wide variety of learning activities in a lively online text chat forum and includes:

  • Viewing and analysis of existing drama and comedy

  • Online group activities

  • Individual assignments and tutor feedback

You will also be supplied with course notes for individual download.

“I was hesitant about enrolling for the course due to cost and the course being online. However I found the interaction was at least as good as doing a course in person and the feedback provided was worth the price of admission alone.”

"I went into the course wanting to not feel intimidated by the idea of writing a script, which I had never done before, and since I've finished the course, I now have an entire episode drafted. Mission accomplished!"

This is an introductory course. You do not need to have any previous experience.

There is an online tutorial session every Wednesday evening 7 - 9pm AEDT

First online Tutorial Wednesday 11th April 2018.

You will need to dedicate at least 8 hours per week to self-directed study, plus one 2-hour online session. You will also be required to devote time to TV viewing and the production of written assignments.
