Master of Arts Screen: Business

What is the Master of Arts Screen: Business (MASB) and why choose AFTRS? These are the questions prospective students ask when considering applying for our MASB course.

To answer these questions and learn more about the MASB at AFTRS, we sat down with four students, past and present, to hear about their first-hand experience with the course  — what it entails, the benefits of its flexible delivery, details of its capstone project, and how, through its three pillars technology, innovation, and leadership it helps transform business ideas into careers for future leaders in the screen industry.

Hear from the experts – those who run the course and those who take the course – what is the MASB?

“The program will transform your thinking and creative practice; it opens up opportunities and pathways that you didn't know were possible.”

Patrick McKenzie (Educator/Content Producer)

Hear from students and alumni, Sarah Price, Diana Glenn, Bardia Moradbakhsh and Patrick McKenzie about their experiences with the MASB course, and unique outcomes. Along with Course Convenor Peter Herbert and Discipline Lead Krista Jordan, they explain how the course provides insight into the screen industry and provides them with the knowledge and tools to pursue their chosen path within it.

“We launched this course because there was essentially a gap in the market. Over a period of time it was easy to observe that while [AFTRS] did very well with writers, producers, directors, designers, we needed more emphasis on people who are capable in terms of finance and management and technology.”

Peter Herbert (MASB Program Convenor)

MASB students explain their reasons for choosing AFTRS, and what makes the School so unique.

“AFTRS is unique as an educational institution because it really supports and cares for its students through their whole journey, not just through the duration of the course, but well into their future.”

Sarah Price (Founder at Cast Away NT)
