Avid MC110 Intensive

Become an Avid Certified User

This Avid certified course will teach you the technical and organisational skills as well as the creative skills required to produce a well-edited video.  From using dynamic trim techniques to shape the actor’s performances in a dramatic scene, to quickly assembling a news package to meet a deadline, this course empowers novice users to take their Media Composer skills to the next level. Exercises are hands-on, giving students an opportunity to work on a scripted short film and a promotional video.

Over 4 days the course provides a solid foundation in Media Composer video effects capabilities and in conjunction with the Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) course, will prepare you to earn the credential, and digital badge, of Avid Certified User: Media Composer.

Is the Avid MC110 Intensive right for you?

This advanced course is for students and video editors who have a rudimentary knowledge of editing in Media Composer and are ready to broaden their foundational skills to take their editing to the next level.

As such you must have completed either Editing with Avid Fundamentals or Avid MC101 Intensive, or equivalent training prior to this course.

In order to sit the MC110 official Avid Exam on the last day of the course, to seek Avid Media Composer User Certification, you must be competent with the Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) curriculum (covered in Avid MC101, or previously in Industry Certificate: TV Assistant Editor).

You can choose to do this course and NOT sit the exam.

What you will need

All course materials and equipment are provided for the onsite learning, including a copy of the Avid Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC110) 2022 textbook.

Not provided is the Avid Media Composer Fundamentals I (MC101) 2022 textbook, required if intending to sit the Avid user certification exam. Students must bring their own from previous training or purchase for themselves ahead of the course here

This is a 100% computer-based course and you’ll be taught on a Mac, so you’ll need to be comfortable in that environment.

Important Information

This course is for students aged 18+ only.

If a student wishes to withdraw from a course, they may do so up to 15 days before the course commences and get a full refund. Cancellations 14 days or less before course commencement will incur a penalty.

AFTRS reserves the right to cancel any course for any reason at any time. In the event of a course being cancelled by AFTRS prior to commencement a 100% refund or credit note of the course fees paid will be provided.

Should AFTRS need to cancel a course after commencement, but before its completion, reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule. If rescheduling is not feasible, it is at AFTRS’ sole discretion to issue either full or partial credit notes depending on the circumstances.

AFTRS will make every effort to ensure the scheduled run of any course.

This decision is dependent on course enrolments meeting minimum numbers. AFTRS is not liable for any travel or accommodation costs incurred through course cancellation at any time for any reason.
