Become a Content Creator

This course focuses on the skills and knowledge required for the creation of engaging short form video to a brief. You’ll learn how to analyse the brief, develop your storytelling and idea generation skills and produce video content quickly to make it engaging across different platforms.

Delivered 100% online, you will engage in practical, collaborative online lectures to learn how to create campaign style content for social media and corporate communications. The course will include sessions on shooting and editing content using a mobile device, with the aim of achieving the best possible technical and creative outcomes.

You will be expected to create content regularly as exercises throughout the course and submit a portfolio to brief at the end of the course.

Is the Industry Certificate: Content Creation right for you?

The Content Creation Industry Certificate is ideal for:

  • communications staff in corporate or government organisations who are responsible for content creation and want to upskill themselves so more of the process can be delivered in-house.
  • freelancers who want to expand their skill set and get more work in the digital space.
  • advertising or content agency staff who want a better understanding of content production.

No previous experience with camera or editing is necessary for this course, but you will need to provide your own mobile device to complete the exercises. You’ll also need to make time to shoot and complete your portfolio video(s).

This course is taught in English, and is open to international students. You must be over 18 to enrol.

What you will need

This course is delivered 100% online over 12 weeks. There are weekly online units to be completed in Moodle, our online learning environment, and weekly online video conferencing sessions via Zoom Video Link. You should allow at least 10 hour per week to include the coursework, including practical exercises and assessment tasks.

You will need a fairly current mobile device on which to shoot and edit the course exercises, and a way to back up your device. You will also need to have accounts on the Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and TikTok platforms.

Online Component

For the online components of the course you will need access to a desktop or laptop computer with camera, sound and good internet connection for the Zoom Video sessions.

This course commences on Monday 27 July
First Zoom: Wednesday 29 July 6.30 – 8.30pm
There will be weekly Zoom session on Wednesdays and other individual Zoom feedback sessions through the course dates TBC. There is some work to be completed before the first session – log in details and instructions will be emailed to you upon enrolment.

25% to confirm enrolment in the course
25% due 14 days from beginning of course
25% due by the end of Week 3 of the course
25% due by the end of Week 6 of the course
NOTE: If you enrol 14 – 1 day before course commencement, 50% payment will be required to confirm enrolment.

If an attendee wishes to withdraw from a course, they may do so up to 15 days before the course commences and get a full refund. Cancellations 14 days or less before course commencement will incur a fee.
