Dejay Vi Nguyen

Industry Manager (Students)

Dejay Vi Nguyen is one of the Industry Manager (Students) at AFTRS, where she leads initiatives that connect students with real-world industry experiences, fostering pathways into Australia’s screen and media sectors. Her role focuses on building strategic partnerships, mentoring emerging talent, and supporting career development across AFTRS’ award courses. 

With a career spanning over two decades, Dejay brings a rich background in film production and creative content development. Her production credits reflect a diverse and innovative portfolio. She was Production Manager on the WWI action drama Battle Ground (2013), which received the Excellence in Film Editing Award at the Barcelona International Film Festival. She also served as Associate Producer on the science documentary The Aussie Who Baffled the World (2011), and the sports documentary series The Code: Life with the HSBC Waratahs (2011) 

Dejay’s work in emerging media includes her role as Production Manager on the interactive crime thriller VR Noir: A Day Before the Night, released on Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard, which was the first project to explore immersive storytelling through virtual reality, produced by AFTRS and Start VR. Most notably, she was Associate Producer on the critically acclaimed feature film Hotel Mumbai (2018), produced by Xeitgeist Entertainment. 

She holds a Master of Media Arts in Production from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), she is Co-Founder and Producer at Indianic Pictures, and continues to champion the development of Australia’s next generation of screen storytellers through her work at AFTRS.
