The Partnerships and Development team comprises Marketing and Student Recruitment; International; Business Development; Alumni, Scholarships and Philanthropy; and, Industry Placement teams. The team works collaboratively to ensure the ongoing and future sustainability of the School and its national and international reputation for excellence by promoting AFTRS and building and maintaining key strategic partnerships that deliver meaningful and mutually beneficial outcomes.

With an internal and external focus, this team is responsible for driving the school’s business development strategy, including national and international student recruitment; initiating and growing partnerships with screen and broadcast organisations and corporate and commercial organisations and expanding philanthropic engagement and in-kind support from stakeholders and alumni.

    Mathieu Ravier is Director of the Partnerships & Development team at AFTRS.

    The Partnerships & Development division of AFTRS is responsible for industry partnerships and training, alumni engagement, business development, marketing and communications, as well as the School’s student recruitment and admissions.

    Matt has spent 25 years in the screen and cultural sectors, working for both business and non-profits as well as at State and Federal government organisations. Matt takes up the position on the leadership team at AFTRS after four and a half years as Chief Engagement Officer of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. At the NFSA, he significantly increased and diversified industry and audience engagement with the national audio-visual collection, through exhibitions, education, public programs, marketing, communications and digital publishing.

    Born in France, Matt has lived in the US, Japan, Canada, Hong Kong and the UK before settling in Australia. After working as a Trade Officer for film, television and new media in Hong Kong and Artistic Director of the Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester, Matt moved to Australia in 2005 to run the events and audience development company The Festivalists, whose clients included Sydney Film Festival, Australian Museum and SBS.

    He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialisation in Arts & Media Management from York University, Toronto. He has worked on several boards and advisory groups, including Sydney Film Festival, Australian Music Vault and the Australian Media Literacy Alliance.

    After completing a Bachelor of Education, Mignon’s career changed direction when she joined PolyGram Australia. Following more than a decade in the Australian music industry, Mignon went on to become the first female Sales Director with a major record company at Universal Music Australia.

    More recently, Mignon was employed in a strategic partnership role with the Wakakirri Story-Dance Association.

    Mignon possesses a comprehensive understanding of business operations and commercial motivations from many years working at an executive level in both the corporate and not for profit sectors. She is passionate about the importance of the arts and education to a healthy society.

    With an approach grounded in 25 years of client‑service expertise gained in design and branding agencies in Australia and the UK, Beverley oversees public-facing courses and the delivery of customised training for a wide range of corporate, government and not-for-profit organisations.

Her role focuses on building strategic partnerships, mentoring emerging talent, and supporting career development across AFTRS’ award courses. 

    With a career spanning over two decades, Dejay brings a rich background in film production and creative content development. Her production credits reflect a diverse and innovative portfolio. She was Production Manager on the WWI action drama Battle Ground (2013), which received the Excellence in Film Editing Award at the Barcelona International Film Festival. She also served as Associate Producer on the science documentary The Aussie Who Baffled the World (2011), and the sports documentary series The Code: Life with the HSBC Waratahs (2011).  

    Dejay’s work in emerging media includes her role as Production Manager on the interactive crime thriller VR Noir: A Day Before the Night, released on Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard, which was the first project to explore immersive storytelling through virtual reality, produced by AFTRS and Start VR. Most notably, she was Associate Producer on the critically acclaimed feature film Hotel Mumbai (2018), produced by Xeitgeist Entertainment. 

    She holds a Master of Media Arts in Production from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), she is Co-Founder and Producer at Indianic Pictures, and continues to champion the development of Australia’s next generation of screen storytellers through her work at AFTRS.

    As Alumni Program Manager, Christine has reimagined what it means to stay connected. She’s built a thriving global alumni network, curated unforgettable events, and helped thousands of graduates amplify their voices—both online and off. Her leadership was instrumental in the AFTRS 50th Anniversary celebrations, where she brought history to life through a year-long series of national and international activations. 

    Beyond AFTRS, Christine’s creative fingerprints can be found across projects and events for ABC Radio, Create NSW, Foxtel, Legs on The Wall, and more. She’s worked on large scale events including the Commonwealth Games, the ARIA Awards, Disney musicals and the Sydney Film Festival, and has curated intimate projects such as live original music series For Folk Sake. 

    A composer, session singer, and voice artist, Christine’s eclectic visual and sonic work has featured on ABC (TV/Radio/ Online) and SBS Radio, and she’s trained hundreds of professionals in voice, communication, and presentation with her own bespoke program. 

    In 2021, Christine proudly re-launched the AFTRS Alumni Program, reigniting a vibrant community and spotlighting the brilliance of Australian screen talent. Recent milestones include the launch of the Alumni Advisory Group and the Alumni & Industry Scholarship Fund—initiatives that will continue to inspire and shape the future of Australia’s next generation of storytellers.

    Lisa’s career began in the arts and media sector working in the fashion departments of several magazines, she then moved into the fashion PR industry. With over a decade of experience in tertiary admissions and the creative industries, including leadership roles at the Australian Institute of Music and freelance producing work with ABC Radio National, Lisa brings both strategic expertise and a genuine understanding of the artistic mindset.

    Lisa has trained and worked as an actor and she holds an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts from the Actors Centre Australia, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney. Her background as an actor and producer informs her ability to connect authentically with creative individuals and provides a unique perspective in supporting emerging creatives as they take their next professional step.

    Ella is a proud descendant of the Manukorihi people who take shelter under Taranaki Maunga. She currently works at AFTRS as the Future Student Engagement Lead.

    Ella specialises in student recruitment, outreach and student support where at the University of Auckland, she was an active member of the university community and a strong advocate for regional and māori students.

    Returning home to Taranaki, Ella built extensive experience across event management, communications, policy development, strategy and project leadership, delivering tangible, on‑the‑ground impact.

    A key career highlight was establishing an inaugural education policy for Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa and leading its implementation through the design and delivery of a first‑of‑its‑kind internship programme in partnership with local organisations.

    Ella is consistently guided by a deep connection to people, place and story. These foundations shape her approach at AFTRS where she inspires and engages with the next generation of storytellers.

    Steven Kirkby is a content producer who has been working in the broadcast industry for the past 18 years. Recently, he has worked on The War on Waste, Planet America, Media Watch, The Checkout, The Chasers Election Desk and Media Circus. Steven’s passion is cinematography and editing.

    Steven enjoys watching documentaries and movies about modern history and current affairs. He loves spending time with his girlfriend Melissa and dog Basil, hanging out down the South Coast and his favourite food is a big antipasto spread.

    Steven Kirkby is a content producer who has been working in the broadcast industry for the past 18 years. Recently, he has worked on The War on Waste, Planet America, Media Watch, The Checkout, The Chasers Election Desk and Media Circus. Steven’s passion is cinematography and editing.

    Steven enjoys watching documentaries and movies about modern history and current affairs. He loves spending time with his girlfriend Melissa and dog Basil, hanging out down the South Coast and his favourite food is a big antipasto spread.

    Avinash Chordia is a creative media professional and musician with over 20 years of experience spanning music performance, content production, and industry engagement. He began his career as a drummer in India, gaining national recognition as a founding member of The Supersonics, a pioneering rock band that toured internationally and released two acclaimed studio albums. 

    Beyond performance, Avinash served as Creative Producer and Head of Studios at The Peninsula Studios, where he led branded audio-visual projects for clients including Coca-Cola, Nokia, and HCL Technologies. His work involved artist discovery, music supervision, live event production, and the creation of original IPs that fused traditional and contemporary music forms. These experiences reflect his deep commitment to storytelling, collaboration, and cultural innovation. 

    Currently, Avinash is the Industry Partnerships Officer at AFTRS, coordinating the national delivery of Industry Partnered Training (IPT) courses across Australia. He plays a key role in stakeholder engagement, inclusive learning practices, and operational innovation. Avinash also ensures that AFTRS’ partnerships with guilds and film festivals are strategically aligned and beneficial to the AFTRS community, fostering opportunities for collaboration, visibility, and professional growth.
