Maia is an innovative film maker, senior lecturer and programme leader with over 20 years of experience in education, film and digital media, blending creative vision and production knowledge with strategic leadership.
Maia has lived and worked in Sydney, Prague, Copenhagen, LA, London, and Barcelona, a graduate from : FAMU in Prague, The Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen, and an MA in Film Directing at AFTRS (2005). She has created award-winning Short films, Documentaries, TV, Commercials, Digital Content, and Music Videos, working across different sectors, with a 360-approach adept in multiple roles as Writer, Director, Producer, and Editor.
Maia is a passionate lecturer with over 18 years of teaching experience in higher education, (COFA / UNSW, NIDA, AFTRS, Afilm Barcelona, Prague City University) and has mentored hundreds of BA and MA thesis productions, consistently upholding the highest academic standards.
Having returned to Australia after 12 years of living in Europe, in her last position Maia was the Program Leader and Director of Curriculum Development at Prague City University (in partnership with Teesside University UK); driving the design, development, and validation of the BA (Hons) of Creative Media Production, leading the programme, championing innovation, quality assurance, industry relevant education, and fostering continuous improvement in teaching strategies.
