Dr Zanny Begg has over 15 years of production experience across fiction and non-fiction including cutting edge experimental digital work. She has a PhD in Art Theory from UNSW with a focus on screen-based works.

Zanny’s award-winning documentary and experimental work not only brings current and future industry trends into the classroom but will inform the development of the new BASP curriculum. Zanny is the 2024 Visual Arts Fellowship recipient Creative Australia, the winner of the 66th Blake Prize Established Artist Residency 2021, the 2018 winner of the inaugural ACMI and Artbank film commission, the 2016 winner of the Incinerator Art Award, Art for Social Change, the 2016 winner of the Terrence and Lynnette Fern Cite Residency Paris and in 2022/2023 a retrospective of her recent video works toured ten venues across Australia, supported by Museums and Galleries NSW and were part of an ACMI touring exhibition on Australian video art.

Her recent exhibitions include the 60th Venice Biennial, The National New Australian Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, The Istanbul Biennial and she has exhibited in multiple biennales and exhibitions in Australia and around the world. She won best Director Australia at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival and has recently complete a new public art commission for Orange Regional Gallery.

Zanny has over ten years’ experience as an Educator at UNSW and USYD, has guest lectured at AFTRS and is also a mentor for Accessible Arts.
