Fyona Smith lectures in Radio and has worked in the Australian commercial radio industry for more than 15 years.
Fyona comes to AFTRS with a wealth of experience from Southern Cross Austereo’s Gold Coast Media Centre where she worked as Triple M Localworks Network Music Director, presented the top rated School of Rock radio show and hosted Southern Cross Television’s Australian music TV show School of Rock Oz made. She has also worked as an Announcer/Music Director at Mix FM 92.7 (Sunshine Coast) and Local & Network Announcer/Assistant Music Director 4TOFM (Townsville).
Fyona has significant sales and marketing experience, with previous positions at Bonza Records, Darwin’s Hot 100 and News Limited.
In 2009 she was awarded Best Music Presenter, Best Music Director and Best Music Special (Provincial) at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAS). Fyona also received The Music Network’s scholarship to attend the International Music Industry Conference MIDEM, in Cannes France.
She is also a graduate of AFTRS 2009 Commercial Radio Programming Course and AFTRS 2010 Open Program TV Presenting course.
In addition to working fulltime as a Radio Lecturer at AFTRS, can also be heard occasionally on weekends on Sydney’s Kiis1065.
