Satellite, digital and online are transforming the industry but radio still remains one of the most accessible forms of technology on earth, with over 44,000 radio stations globally.

With Apple surpassing 1.6 billion subscriptions and 20 billion downloads, across 250,000 podcasts via its iTunes app, the market for radio and voice over talent is growing every year.

Using AFTRS' state of the art radio facilities and through a series of lectures and practical exercises participants will have the opportunity to refine:
  • Live presentation skills

  • Announcing and script reading

  • Skills pertaining to selecting and preparing radio content

  • Voice skills

  • An awareness of the use of professional on air studio equipment and operation

  • A more detailed understanding and perspective of broadcast law

Each participant will select and develop content to create a radio program, go live to air, and they will be provided with individual expert feedback from Rachel.

Rachel Corbett is a writer, radio and TV presenter, podcaster and voice over artist with over 15 years experience creating content for Australia's largest media organisations. She's presented breakfast shows for radio stations across the country including Hit 107 Adelaide, Hit 929 Perth and Triple M Melbourne. She's also hosted local and national drive shows for Triple M Sydney, most recently co-hosting Merrick and the Highway Patrol with Merrick Watts and Jules Schiller. Rachel appears regularly on TV (The Today Show, The Project, Paul Murray Live, The Verdict) and is a columnist for newspapers and online publications including The Daily Telegraph,, Mamamia and The Huffington Post.
